A Weight of its Own

I used to feel an aching sorrow
in my chest
as if every mistake I had ever
made had been piled on top
of me

and although I have since been
relieved of that weight
I do no feel light
I do not feel free
Like a soaring bird heading
to find warmth

all I feel is anticipation
for a journey to a
destination I am still
uncertain of
and that is a weight
of its own

  1. I’m glad you were able to shed that weight, but that feeling of still not being free (know it all to well) is perfectly captured in the end. For you, as well for all others,:

    Peace in the struggle
    to find peace
    comfort on the way
    to comfort

  3. Hi rejectreality. I have found to take a day at a time not expect anything. Remember you are are as good as anybody else. And confidently face the world. You will be fine and keep writing. Thank you so much for liking my poem A Voice Called! Peace and Best wishes. The Foureyed Poet

  4. I 100% relate to this daily feeling. There’s comfort in knowing I’m not the only one. Thank you for sharing these words 🙂
